These days, things have been both serene and hectic and exciting, which I suppose is precisely how I like things to be.
I took a little time off social media this summer, which not only recharged my batteries but also allowed me to step back from the daily grind and take stock of reality.
I don’t know if this happens to you too, but sometimes I get stuck and I don’t even notice I’m stuck.
Kind of like a box you fill one day with garments that need mending and put in the corner of your bedroom, ready for the day you’ll have ‘time to mend’ (which we all know never comes, because who wants to mend an old sock when you can get a whole new pretty, shiny dress?).
And after a while, that box becomes invisible and if you’re not careful, you might fill another box with boring stuff you ‘should’ do. And then another and another. You stack up these invisible boxes all around your bedroom wall. And one day, you realize you don’t ever want to go to bed and you don’t really know why.
Anyways.
This long roundabout way to say that I hadn’t even noticed that I had been adding more and more boring things to my plate (a video for this, and a post for that, and another video, and another post…) and hadn’t even noticed that I had left myself zero time to create.
And I do love to create. (And I do hate to be bored.)
So I vacationed and took stock and wiped the table clean and made a new plan.
Long slow writing days.
More creative time.
New exciting social media formats. (Because if I have to post videos every other minute, I might as well have fun creating them.)
Well-organized projects that don’t take up every waking hour of my mind space.
(To be honest, that last one is probably more a wish than a real plan given that my mind only has 2 working modes and I oscillate at random between ‘so obsessed I can hardly breathe’ mode and ‘can’t bear to even think about it’ mode.)
And now I realize that this entry is already way too long and I haven’t even told you the most important thing I was supposed to tell you:
I’m releasing a new song!
It’s called Winnie, it’s a song about perinatal grief and it will be out everywhere on September 11th.
And if you want to get early access to this song (and the next ones too!), you can sign up here.
